Recalls and Outbreaks: What YOU Can Do

Posted: 10/30/2026

Even with November here and spooky season behind us, it can be scary to hear about food recalls and outbreak investigations. Just in October, we had over 20 different recalls for a variety of reasons. On October 17th, Kayem Foods recalled almost 1.6 million pounds of assorted meat products due to time-temperature abuse during storage. There were several recalls throughout the month due to potential Listeria monocytogenes in salmon, pasta, and ice cream. Multiple undeclared allergen recalls ranging from milk to sesame to soy. Potential physical contamination of glass in mung beans and metal in ice cream bookended the month.

Recalls only protect you and your customers if you hear about them. Knowing where to look and what to do is a major first step. HRFoodSafe is here to help – from convenient ServSafe® classes, private food safety training, consulting, and resources on our website, we’re here to always help you Keep It Safe!
