Halloween is all about treats and treats—but your food safety shouldn’t be scary! Whether you’re catering a party or cooking up spooky snacks, a few simple steps can keep the fun going (and the pathogens away).
- Keep the Creepy Crawlies out of your kitchen! We work with licensed pest control officers for a reason. When it starts getting colder outside, our kitchens look warm and inviting for all the bugs and pests…but we have to make sure we’re being proactive about denying access.
- Carved Pumpkins are TCS Foods! Once that pumpkin turns into a jack-o-lantern, it needs time and temperature control to stay safe…otherwise, it’s decoration only! Keep sliced fruits and veg under proper temperature control.
- Spell your Hands clean (with soap and water!) Proper hygiene is crucial for keeping our food safe. Make sure those handwashing stations are stocked and ready to go.
A safe Halloween doesn’t mean less fun – with just a little extra care, you can make sure your spooky celebration stays delicious and worry-free. This season, keep the scares in the costumes, not in the kitchen! Looking for more? Come have a frightfully good time at one of our ServSafe® Food Protection Manager classes near you.
