Johnston County Hams Recalled Due To Listeria Illnesses

Johnston County Hams Inc (Smithfield) has recalled more than 89,000 pounds of ready-to-eat ham products due to Listeria monocytogenes infections. Pregnant woman are 10 times more likely to get ill from Listeria and can cause serious issues including miscarriages, stillbirths, premature labor and even death in newborns.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers and are urged not to consume them. According to the recall notice, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
